Kitchen Design Ideas

Now that you’re knife smart, having completed kitchen cutlery sets Knives 101, you’re ready to choose your set. But how? Which of many kitchen cutlery sets? Don’t worry…putting price aside, it all comes down to comfort and material.

Comfortable Kitchen Cutlery Sets

Comfort is a major factor, particularly given the handle, which is the part of the knife that, fortunately, you’ll have the most contact with (you want as little contact as possible with the blade!). One factor to consider is the handle size relative to your hand size. If you have small hands, choose from the various kitchen cutlery sets one with small handles.

Material and Kitchen Colors

In addition, handle material is another factor to consider. Handle materials can be comprised, generally, of wood, plastic or steel. Many prefer the “natural” feel of wood. But wood can stain and, when washed, takes the longest to dry, which is particularly irksome if you have small kitchen counter tops and no dishwasher. Plastic and steel are easiest to clean. But the major determinant is simple preference. Go to a store and pick up each type of handle and choose that which feels the most comfortable for you.

Consider comfort when buying as the knives are, essentially, an extension of your arm in the kitchen. Don’t worry so much about aesthetics. Sets come in many colors, so you'll have no trouble matching your kitchen colors.

Now go ahead – get a set for you...and... your friends and family!
